If you have questions about the border, specifically the United States/Mexico border, share them with me so I can keep them in mind. I’m hoping to blog and share more regularly during my time there some of my reflections with you all. There might be things that happen that I won’t be able to talk about, but I’ll try to share what I can because maybe you can be praying with me about all that’s happening at the border and for the people who find themselves there, including me.

Internship in Brownsville, Texas!

Hi! I’m Sejana Yoo, current Seminary (MDiv) Student and Hospital Chaplain PRN. I’m one of the 4 interns selected by Fellowship Southwest to go on a 5-week summer internship at the border. I’ll be serving alongside experienced partners in Brownsville, TX, to learn about migrant ministry, immigration policy, and advocacy. Specifically, I am excited about the opportunity to see with my own eyes, listen, and be present with all those there at the border for an extended amount of time. (Central Texas readers- please let me know if you would like to donate any of the requested items listed here for Brownsville by 23 May so I can coordinate a pick up with you!)

If you have questions you’ve been pondering, regarding the border and what’s happening with the people at the border, please share them with me. Maybe I can try to show you what I see and have experienced from being there.

Finally, would you pray for me and for us throughout the summer that God will bless our time at the border? I am praying for several things as I prepare to leave my family and have many questions in my mind and heart regarding all the things that happen at the border.

I enjoy sharing hope for everyday life to others – from the mundane to the messy. I am a Christian that is sensitive to those who don’t believe as I do, but are open to conversations about faith. I am currently working as a Hospital Chaplain PRN after finishing up 5 units at a trauma level 1 hospital in Central Texas in a Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) program. I completed Spiritual Direction Certification Training in May 2023 and am working on my second masters degree through George W Truett Theological Seminary for a masters in divinity with a concentration on spiritual formation and discipleship. I am an active duty Army Veteran of 12 years and hold a Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. I’m mixed race – Black and Asian. I am happily married and raising 2 growing teens. I attend various conferences on chaplaincy, spiritual direction, discipleship, leadership, preaching, pastoring and more! I like gathering others together and having honest conversations in person and online. I also enjoy art, writing, movies with popcorn, live music, and being outside in nature (minus the mosquitoes).
