Hi! I just wrapped up my second-to-last semester in seminary and this summer will be headed to Brownsville, TX. Four interns were selected to go to two border sites to learn about migrant ministry, immigration policy, and advocacy under the non-profit organization called Fellowship Southwest.
Donations wanted for a church in Brownsville, TX!
If you would like to help migrants and/or help a church that helps migrants, I am collecting items listed below to take with me to my Fellowship Southwest internship site in Brownsville, TX. If you can collect items from your network to pass them along to me, or donate requested items yourself from the list below, and contact me, I will bring them to my internship setting and give them to our contact in Brownsville, Texas.
Please feel free to email me at sejanashines@gmail.com so we can coordinate a pick up day/time for items from Temple or Waco, TX. I hope to gather all the items before 23 May. Also, you can email me if you would like to be emailed updates and prayer requests throughout my Brownsville experience (29 May – 8 July).
Brownsville specific – “There is a big need for t-shirts, (new or gently used). Gatorades, Nutri Grain bars, women’s leggings, baseball caps. (For the Gatorade and Nutrigrain bars people can donate gift cards to Wal-mart or Sams’s and the church can go buy them.)” (Download here.)
Someone asked, ‘how much are you trying to raise?’ My response was, “as much as will fit in my 4 passenger sedan!”
Someone else asked, ‘What about children sized shirts, do you want those too?’ Our response is, ‘all aged persons of all sizes come through Brownsville. It can be clothing for all ages. But for adults no larger than size L. For (women’s) leggings, this will be used for outerwear to wear as pants. Your donations of new or gently used and clean shirts or leggings will be appreciated.’
If you want to give or help me collect items from others to give before 23 May, please do!
Thank you so much!
