A Letter From God

I can’t speak for God but as I have gotten to know Him through His impact on my life over all these years, in the lives of others around the world that also have a growing, personal relationship with Him, and when I read His Word, with the help of the Holy Spirit, I think I know enough about the character of God to imagine that He might say these things to me which I have put into a (hypothetical) letter from God. Now I know this is a huge claim to say that THIS is from God, but, for an assignment for our #spiritualformation class, in #seminary, I decided to personalize the assignment even more by fashioning a letter that affirms where I am right now with the truth of the scriptures.

If this is offensive to you, you don’t have to like it. Just skip over and read something else. But for me, this was crafted to speak life into areas that I continue to struggle with at times, even as a Christian. I am sharing it with hopes that it speaks to somebody else right now out there too. May you be reminded of God’s love and provision for you. He knows you are here and He is with you always.

Audio of the letter below, with “My Child” spoken instead of my name and with no scripture references.

Here is a copy of my letter with scripture references. Feel free to make your own or use mine by replacing your name as you read it.

Sejana,

Starting with your name, I make everything beautiful in it’s time (Ecc 3:11). I began a good work in you and I will bring it to completion (Philippians 1:6). I know the plans that I have for you, I hear you and I make myself known to you when you seek me. (Jeremiah 29:11-13) I go out and draw you back to me when you go astray. (Luke 15:3-7)   I love you and I willingly laid down my life for you, whom I love. (John 15:13) I came to give you true life, a life to be lived in fullness. (John 10:10) Do not hide your light from me or from others, but shine it bright so that all may see my glory through you. (Matthew 5:14-16) I chose you as my people.  I called you out of darkness into my light. (1 Peter 2:9)  I help you, you are not disgraced. I know you, you will not be put to shame by me. (Isaiah 50:7) Even though my ways are higher than your ways and my thoughts higher than your thoughts, I can sympathize with your weaknesses. (Hebrews 4:15). I have not abandoned you as an orphan; I continue to come to you. (John 14:18) I will help you. I hold you up with my mighty right hand. (Isaiah 41:10) When you are weak and burdened, remember to come to me and I will give you rest. (Matthew 11:28) The Spirit helps you in your weaknesses. (Romans 8:26) Absolutely NOTHING will separate you from my love. (Romans 8:38-39)  I am all that you need.  I am the bread that satisfies (John 6:35) and the living water that quenches your thirst. My peace I give to you. (John 14:27) You are my child. (I John 3:1-2) I love you and you will have everlasting life with me. (John 3:16) There is nothing you can do for me to love you more; there is nothing you can do for me to love you less.  It is only by my grace – in faith – that you are saved. It is not by any of the works that you do, so you don’t have to keep striving for my approval.  (Ephesians 2:8-9)

Sejana, I chose you before the foundation of the world. (Ephesians 1:4)  I formed your innermost being and I knew all about you before anyone else knew you were there. (Psalms 139:13-15) I see you and I know that you love me. (Romans 7:15-25) You are precious in my sight (Isaiah 43:4). Stay connected to me and the fruit that you seek will happen naturally for apart from me, you can do nothing. (John 15:5)

Your Heavenly Father,

God
