Happy Mother’s Day!
I’m going to send this video below (plus a private intro) to each of my 3 mom’s. (My birth mom, my step mom and my Aunt that raised me with my deceased grandma.) As I think about what they each went through to sacrifice and raise me, I want to give them something in return, especially on this Mother’s day. (Or in Korea where we currently live- on this Parent’s day.) I don’t want to take anything for granted. 💓
This message also goes out to those who are missing their mom’s on this day. There are many mom’s in our world besides birth mom’s and step-mom’s. There are also foster mom‘s, surrogate mom’s, new mom’s, great-grand mom’s, those who are like a mom to others, women who have not have the opportunity to be a mom yet but are trying, women who have aborted their babies, women who miscarried, women who have buried their children…. all of these mom’s are here and seen and loved by God according to John 3:16. For God so loved the WORLD (that means he loves EVERY person) that He gave his one and only Son, Jesus, that whoever believes in Him will not perish but have everlasting life (with Him). Also Romans 5:6-8 is important to note as well. “For while we were still weak, at the right time Christ died for the ungodly.” (That means he died for me and for you; we have each messed up at some point in our lives and so disqualified ourselves from being in the presence of our Holy God.) Vs 8 “but God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” That is amazing. God knew what we did, he knows and he sees and yet he still wants me and he still wants you to turn to Him. If you are alive- it is not too late! Jesus’s death on the cross paid the price for our sins and so because of Him we can be with God again when we believe. (Romans 6:23, 1 Cor 15:3-4)
This is the message I want to share with all mom’s and all future mom’s – all women everywhere on this day. I know it is a great sacrifice to your body and to your life to care for the child(ren) entrusted to you by God. But you were called to do it. Or you answered the call to step into the role for someone else. Thank you. I thank you.
And today I thank my mom’s.
I pray that this good news will be received with glad hearts and a desire to know more about the One True God that knew and knows all about you -good and bad- and yet He still never turned away. We turned away but we can come back to Him. Let’s take courage and share this message with our loved ones on this day. Thank you for taking care of me and now I give you the best thing I have going for me- knowledge and hope in Jesus as my personal Lord and Savior. I hope you see me trying to live out the rest of life in complete submission to God and being obedient to His call, whether it is easy or not or whether it is what I’m excited about or not. I try to care for my children thinking of their future as well as their here and now. Because of what I now understand a little better as a parent, I can see even more what God has done and is doing for me and for us every single day.
Sometimes these feel like hard lessons but I know that you love me and are thinking of my eternity as well as my here and now. You think of this for every person on Earth and so I am thankful to you, God, and I am also thankful to you (mom’s and women everywhere). Thank you for making a way for me.
Numbers 6:24-26 says this and I offer it to you,
“The Lord bless you and keep you; the Lord make his face to shine upon you and be gracious to you; the Lord lift up his countenance upon you and give you peace.”
