Bible Time & Worship Episode 30 – Worship SongS

I cannot believe we have been doing this for thirty episodes! Episode 30 was indeed a time of worship and praise to God. We reflected on why we were here. Worship does not always mean playing the guitar. It can mean to praise the Lord by the reading his word, singing songs, thanking God for what He has done. My son says he’d rather worship God through reading (not singing). Since I haven’t prepared in advance for this particular episode like I normally do, I challenged my children to find verses that applied to the songs I wanted to do since they weren’t really interested in singing.

We wanted to remember and spend time with the Lord by simply spending time with Him. We want to root these songs of worship into your heart through the reading of God’s Word and taking time to come and be with him. Hebrews 10:23-25 says “‘Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for he who promised is faithful. And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near. ‘ Hebrews 10:23-25 https://my.bible.com/bible/59/HEB.10.23-25

I like worship songs that glorify the Lord. I love it when worship songs focus on who the Lord is. I really listen to the lyrics of the songs that I sing when I worship. God is our Abba. When I think about who I am singing to and about and what specifically I am saying, it is encouraging to me and others who take part too. We can be reminded through song of the various attributes of the Lord.

The song “I AM” is a declaration of choice that we can choose to hold on to the Lord. Next song is “Lion & the Lamb.” Why is the song talking about God being a lion?

Lion & The Lamb – The Lamb is referring to Jesus as the Passover Lamb, ‘to save people’s lives forever,’ says my daughter. Unlike lambs (or other animals), Jesus died one time for all as the perfect sacrificial lamb of God. Hebrews 9 & 10 talks about how a lot of animals were sacrificed because ‘without the shedding of blood there can be no forgiveness of sins‘ (Hebrews 9:22). God knew what would happen that he would give his Son (John 3:16) timing Jesus’s offering of himself with the remembrance of the Passover celebration. Christians look forward to Jesus’ return again. This song starts off with “He’s coming on the clouds…” Every knee will bow and every tongue will confess that Jesus Christ is Lord to the glory of God the Father (Philippians 2:10). I’m so thankful that I recognize this truth now and am able to worship God now and not have to wait until that Day. (Hebrews 10:25) AND, also, I can share with people about the hope of Jesus now, that we can be transformed by God and truly live.

You Are Holy (Prince of Peace) – These lyrics remind us about the names and attributes of God set to song!

You are Lord of lords
You are King of kings
You are mighty God
Lord of everything

You’re Emmanuel
You’re the great I AM
You’re the Prince of Peace
Who is the Lamb

You’re the living God
You’re my saving grace
You will reign forever
You are Ancient of Days

You are alpha, omega
Beginning and end
You’re my savior, messiah,
Redeemer and friend

You are my Prince of Peace, and I will live my life for you.

Bible Verses:

2 Kings 2:2 When in the song, I AM, holding on to you Caleb thought of this

‘And Elijah said to Elisha, “Please stay here, for the Lord has sent me as far as Bethel.” But Elisha said, “As the Lord lives, and as you yourself live, I will not leave you.” So they went down to Bethel. ‘ 2 Kings 2:2 https://my.bible.com/bible/59/2KI.2.2

Exodus 3:14

‘Then Moses said to God, “If I come to the people of Israel and say to them, ‘The God of your fathers has sent me to you,’ and they ask me, ‘What is his name?’ what shall I say to them?” God said to Moses, “I am who I am .” And he said, “Say this to the people of Israel: ‘I am has sent me to you.’” ‘ Exodus 3:13-14 https://my.bible.com/bible/59/EXO.3.13-14

Revelations 5:11-14

‘Then I looked, and I heard around the throne and the living creatures and the elders the voice of many angels, numbering myriads of myriads and thousands of thousands, saying with a loud voice, “Worthy is the Lamb who was slain, to receive power and wealth and wisdom and might and honor and glory and blessing!” And I heard every creature in heaven and on earth and under the earth and in the sea, and all that is in them, saying, “To him who sits on the throne and to the Lamb be blessing and honor and glory and might forever and ever!” And the four living creatures said, “Amen!” and the elders fell down and worshiped.’ Revelation 5:11-14 https://my.bible.com/bible/59/REV.5.11-14

Psalms 29:1-2

Exodus 28:36 Things (objects) can be made holy

Exodus 3:5 A place can be considered holy

1 Peter 1: 13-21 We are encouraged to be holy as God is holy (and also chap 2)

‘Therefore, preparing your minds for action, and being sober-minded, set your hope fully on the grace that will be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ. As obedient children, do not be conformed to the passions of your former ignorance, but as he who called you is holy, you also be holy in all your conduct, since it is written, “You shall be holy, for I am holy.” And if you call on him as Father who judges impartially according to each one’s deeds, conduct yourselves with fear throughout the time of your exile, knowing that you were ransomed from the futile ways inherited from your forefathers, not with perishable things such as silver or gold, but with the precious blood of Christ, like that of a lamb without blemish or spot. He was foreknown before the foundation of the world but was made manifest in the last times for the sake of you who through him are believers in God, who raised him from the dead and gave him glory, so that your faith and hope are in God. ‘ 1 Peter 1:13-21 https://my.bible.com/bible/59/1PE.1.13-21

Jeremiah 29:13 We can find God when we really want to. God wants to known.

‘You will seek me and find me, when you seek me with all your heart. ‘ Jeremiah 29:13 https://my.bible.com/bible/59/JER.29.13

Philippians 2:9-11 Everyone will recognize and submit to the Lord

‘so that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, Therefore God has highly exalted him and bestowed on him the name that is above every name, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. ‘ Philippians 2:9-11 https://my.bible.com/bible/59/PHP.2.9-11

Other things discussed in the video:

I am thankful for my children’s familiarity with the Bible that they can find passages in the Bible that apply to what we are looking for. I pray that they will grow to love God and His Word and that they would follow Him even when it is difficult (and even when I am long gone). I pray for increased faith in my children and that they would continue to grow in their relationship with God and love people.

I look forward to the day when Christ returns. Until that Day (Hebrews 10:25), I pray that you will continue to have conversations with your children, even being honest in confessing that you don’t know some things but are willing to go to God and His Word together to try and figure it out. I do pray that we will each share what we do know and that we are led by the Holy Spirit. I am proud to be a Christian following God as a response to His transformation that He has done for me. I am sensitive to what God is doing in the lives to those around me. I try to act when He wants me to act or share when he wants me to share. I can choose to just be with God, abiding with God and staying with Him. I can allow God to be my God and that I would be His child. I pray that I would continue to slow down enough, be quiet enough and sit still long enough to recognize what He is doing in my life and in the lives of those around us. Even though I am a ‘do-er’ type person, I know everything always starts off with us recognizing and RESPONDING to what God is doing in our lives. Even before that, may we stay connected with Christ. When we want to know God with all our heart, He reveals Himself to us so we can know him. (Jeremiah 29:13, Proverbs 8:17, Deuteronomy 4:29) As we have done these videos, I try to be led by the Lord. In faith I put this out there that God will do whatever He will do for his glory that many may come to know and love Him. (Revelations 12:11)

Thank you again for joining in and praying for us #togetherathome and others around the world. I pray this time encourages you to dig into your Bibles and to seek #truth and the understanding that comes from the Lord. My children are continuing to go to school online after spring break here in #Daegu, South Korea. I am in prayer as I see the news of the spread of this virus and many deaths around the world. God is able and #Godisbiggerthanxyz (any situation we may be facing) even if it is scary. It is in Jesus that I continue to place my hope and trust. I pray this videos/blogs have been helpful to point you back to Him too. Feel free to share your thoughts with me as well if you like.

Sincerely,

Sejana
