This morning as we head out to eat and then go to our conference, here is a prayer. I am late to go and eat- I don’t want to get left behind! Please pray for us!
Here is the devotion I prepared last night for today…
As we prepare to lead tomorrow in worship and help to start off our 5 day conference, I want to add these thoughts to your time of quiet with God before we begin.
Paul’s words to the Philippians’ were encouraging even though he wrote this letter while in prison, not knowing his fate. Much like us, in a way, we do not know exactly what today (or tomorrow) will bring but let’s have that same HOPE that Paul did, as recorded in Philippians 4:11-13 ” Not that I am speaking of being in need, for I have learned in whatever situation I am to be content. I know how to be brought low, and I know how to abound. In any and every circumstance, I have learned the secret of facing plenty and hunger, abundance and need. I can do all things through him who strengthens me.” He also wrote, right before that, in his letter to “Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, Rejoice. Let your reasonableness be known to everyone. The Lord is at hand; do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things. What you have learned and received and heard and seen in me– practice these things, and the God of peace will be with you.” I don’t really need to add anything to these excellent words of encouragement spoken by a man who was changed and used mightily by God to spread the gospel and then go back and encourage those who have followed Christ. We are doing the same through music. We are just one part in what God is doing here in the lives of these youth and leaders and in you (and in those who are back home praying for you) who are here. This is about the Lord’s work (1 Cor 3:5-11) and I am so grateful we all get to be a part of His body- the universal church.
So… I just wanted to close in saying that Our God knows what we each need. May we go to HIM with our requests… #pray #missions
