As you start this new season

A letter to you

To all the parents who have just said ‘goodbye’ to their children as they head off to school for the day: you are in my prayers. Remember Jesus loves them more than you do. He gave ALL of Himself for them and for you to have an opportunity to be back into a right relationship with God the Father (John 3:16-17) by dying on the cross as a perfect sacrifice to our Holy God for our wrongs (sins). Yes. The wrongs that we all do have consequences (Romans 6:23). (We cannot repay them ourselves because we have already messed up!! We needed One who has never sinned and was God himself to do it- that was Jesus. He came, lived, and willingly died for you and for me.) Thank you God!!!

Stehli Beach. I was able to go there yesterday and regroup.

A new season

It is a new season- school time- for many of us. As I was reading Matthew 16 today on YouVersion (feel free to join us at link below) I had many thoughts. I realized that I had been focused on and consumed by temporary things (like going to school for example) instead of eternal matters (like teaching my children who God is through consistent family Bible study and through our family decisions and all of our actions). I wanted to encourage you today to take this time, this season, to reflect and realign your life on what’s REALLY important. Even successful business owners regularly take time to reevaluate where they are. They learn from the past and evaluate where they are headed for the future. They put plans in place for the areas that they find didn’t line up to their goals because all of us can get derailed. We can reevaluate and get back on track too. It’s personal

For me, today, it’s not getting our SUV title and passports back in time to fly together to Korea in a few days but rather living out my beliefs that God has this all under control. I choose to trust in Him; He already knows what we need before we ask. And really, this move is just one of many moves that we have already had and will have in the future as a military family. It’s not even about this move. It’s about sticking to God no matter the circumstances. It’s about showing God off to the unbelievers and doubters in my life. God is not a magic genie that grant’s my wishes when I come to him with all my problems. He is Creator of the universe. He is the beginning and the end. He is the One True God, our holy God Almighty. This move is minuscule in light of all the people and concerns of this world yet He is personal to me. I see him in all of this. I know he has made things happen along the way and He is not done yet. May others see Him through my life and be interested. Taste and see that the Lord is good. Yes, this is a new season. May you rightly interpret the times at hand. May you be ready for when He returns. Don’t wait nor be consumed by circumstances of the day. Reevaluate your lives. Repent of your sins. Get back on track. Find out who this God is that you say you serve. Let Him have control over your day to day, not just your eternal address. Ensure the children entrusted in your care know – I mean really know- and see who is at the throne of your life and of your heart.

You were chosen

You may send your children off to be educated but don’t be fooled. YOU are their primary teacher. God gave them to YOU to raise for a reason. Do it right and do it well. Go to Him for help – he knows what they need – after all HE is the once who created them and you before either of you were even a thought in anyone’s mind. (Homeschoolers read here!) You have a lot to consider and reconsider in this season. Start strong and finish strong in Him. Your children’s success starts off with YOU building on the RIGHT FOUNDATION. Build it upon the Rock of Christ. Read Matthew 7:24-27. You know what? I’m just going to cut and paste those verses here:

Matthew 7:24-27 (ESV)

Build Your House on the Rock

24 “Everyone then who hears these words of mine and does them will be like a wise man who built his house on the rock. 25 And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house, but it did not fall, because it had been founded on the rock. 26 And everyone who hears these words of mine and does not do them will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand. 27 And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell, and great was the fall of it.”

You can do it… and also help someone else along the way

Please share this encouragement to other parents that you know or anyone facing a new season in life. Together we can exhort one another to remember what’s really important. I want to thank my good friend, Isis, for encouraging me just two days ago when I was starting to get overwhelmed and derailed with the issues of the move. Right away, she gave me a Godly perspective that I hadn’t considered. I realized none of us can can do this alone. We need each other.

My PWOC Sister gave me this bracelet for one of my favorite verses 2 Timothy 4:7.

“I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.” 2 Timothy 4:7

P.S. As I was editing this post this morning, originally I was writing this on my Facebook page but it got a “little” long (haha). When I transferred it over to Evernote (I do this when things get lengthy so I don’t LOSE MY WORK!) to finish what I had to say and then start editing (adding links to make it easier to read the Bible passages)… my husband comes up to give me the news.

“Did you hear?”

“Hear what?” I say

“Our passports just arrived for pick up.”

“How do you know?” I ask

“He just called me and said they are ready to be picked up.”

I stare at him blankly as he recites the phone conversation. My eyes start to water. Thank you God I say in my mind. My husband asks me, “So are you going to delete all that you’ve wrote?” (He didn’t know what I was writing about just that I had been at it for a while after I did my morning Bible reading.)

“No. I’ll just add it to the end.”

My God is good. No matter my current circumstances.
