Racial Reconciliation

This work is ongoing and there are several organizations that help everyone to learn and grow and make changes in their lives and in systems for the better.

This is a short video I made explaining a little bit about why I care about this topic. May these resources below help you in your path as they are helping me (or the organizations that I share from here have been helpful to me).

Blessings and peace!

SACRED GROUND: A Film and Reading-based Dialogue on Race and Faith | Episcopal Church based (+ other traditions)

Learn the multiracial history of our country that you may have missed growing up and now school teachers are not supposed to teach. Full Communion Sacred Ground is an online-hosted, 11-part series built around a powerful online curriculum of documentary films and readings that focus on Indigenous, Black, Latino, and Asian/Pacific American histories as they intersect with European American histories, and the stories of our families. Join Episcopalians, Lutherans, Moravians, and others to learn how race continues to shape our nation and how we might respond in faith, lament, and action.

PREVIEW SESSIONS – MISSED THIS DATE? Contact Maria anyway to be notified of next year’s preview sessions in August.

Radical Imagination: Care in the Midst of Crisis | CCDA

September 24, from 1-3 pm ET via Zoom, Free for CCDA Members or $5.

How do we respond in moments of crisis? How do we care for ourselves and our communities when systems are causing harm?

Join Christian Community Development Association (CCDA) for Radical Imagination, an interactive gathering that will root us in practices and relationships that sustain hope and resilience.

This year’s Radical Imagination event will help us explore how to tend to our individual and community wellbeing. Get an early look at Liturgies for Resisting Empire by Kat Armas, receive practical guidance on embodied care from Dr. Courtnye Lloyd, and glean wisdom from Dr. Vatreisha Nyemba that you can take back to your community. You will have space for honest sharing and reflection, and walk away with concrete tools to respond during times of crisis.

Let’s learn embodied practices that root us in hope and resilience as we resist injustice together.
