In my final sermon at the Lord’s Church of Waco for the Young Adult Ministry, I start off by naming that sometimes, there are things happening that we are not aware of. I recall my first conversation with the Senior Pastor who invited me to come so he could share with me about his ministry back in Feb 2025 (see pic below!). It takes a lot of hands, it takes a lot of prayers, it takes for God to move in this place and I have seen this happening here at TLCW from my first conversation in this church.
In Mark 10:51, Jesus asks the man who was blind, “What do you want me to do for you?” Why does Jesus ask him this question? I share how I personally came to see Jesus as more than just a story. I also shared how God opened my eyes to see my own self; I saw how I was not as loving as I thought I was through a transformative interaction with a dear friend on social media several years prior. Turns out this awareness and deepened humility I gained helps me in my work as a hospital chaplain (and as a Christian) because I am often interacting with people I do not know at sensitive times in their lives. It matters how we are and how we treat people, not just the words we type or speak. I shared how I felt shushed, maybe perhaps like this man who was blind calling out to Jesus and being quieted by those in the crowd. And I close my final sermon by sharing a bit of encouragement as one who has been there, prayerfully waiting to learn from God what was next after the end of my degree program. May you be courageous enough to use your spiritual eyes to continue to follow after Jesus, trusting that something is happening, even if we are not aware and even if we do not yet physically see it. May God bless you in your next right faithful step into whatever is next as you continue to follow the Spirit of God in your life.

Mark 10:46-52 NIV
46 Then they came to Jericho. As Jesus and his disciples, together with a large crowd, were leaving the city, a blind man, Bartimaeus (which means “son of Timaeus”), was sitting by the roadside begging. 47 When he heard that it was Jesus of Nazareth, he began to shout, “Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me!”
48 Many rebuked him and told him to be quiet, but he shouted all the more, “Son of David, have mercy on me!”
49 Jesus stopped and said, “Call him.”
So they called to the blind man, “Cheer up! On your feet! He’s calling you.” 50 Throwing his cloak aside, he jumped to his feet and came to Jesus.
51 “What do you want me to do for you?” Jesus asked him.
The blind man said, “Rabbi, I want to see.”
52 “Go,” said Jesus, “your faith has healed you.” Immediately he received his sight and followed Jesus along the road.

Preaching Tips Background Video
In this video share, I talk about my last service for the Young Adult Ministry Y.A.M. Before my move after saying ‘yes’ to this leadership role out of state. I shared briefly about my time with Y.A.M and their special ‘blessing’ over me. I mentioned the Scripture Lectio group where anyone can join us to read a portion of scripture together, sit in silence, and then share what comes out with one another and how I had some ideas from reviewing this text with that group for this sermon. I was touched by the people who genuinely asked me what was next for me and it all felt more personal as I got ready to worship alongside them. I talk about my first spring in Texas in 2021 after moving here from South Korea and noticing the wildflowers that sprang up out of the ground and seeing beauty in the sky. On this Sunday, I saw the people before me, young and old adults, where perhaps English was not their first language and their being attentive to my message- it was all very moving and beautiful for me. The Senior Pastor reminded me as I shared with him that I didn’t know what church God had for me in KY, then he shared a bit of his story saying that while I might not know which church, he had no doubt that GOD knew the church for me.
It has been a blessing to serve with TLCW Y.A.M. Service at the invitation of their pastor and to have been welcomed into community by the Y.A.M. Leadership- Deacon Kim, Deacon Young, Deacon Oh, Deacon Elizabeth, and Senior Pastor Kim. May your ministry continue to grow. You have blessed me and have sent me off with hope and friendship.
Blessings~ Your Sister in Christ
