Where God Wants Us To Be sermon from Jeremiah 17

How do we know we are doing the right thing and operating in God’s will? We don’t want to miss it. That’s how I felt when I was younger and even still now that I’m older, among many different opportunities, sometimes I wonder which one is truly for me. Here is my response to this question and others like it in my latest sermon preached on 16 November 2025 called “Where God Wants Us To Be” from Jeremiah 17:7-10. May it encourage you!

I preached this sermon as the main scheduled preacher this semester for the Young Adult Ministries (YAM) English speaking college ministry of The Lord’s Church in Waco (TLCW). This semester, I’m scheduled to preach twice a month. Come and worship with us if you are local! The Lord’s Church Waco is located in Waco, Texas, about a 40 minute drive from my home in Temple.

Scroll down below to watch a recording of the sermon, the Scriptures, a link to those videos I referenced that I made during Covid, closing prayer, and the benediction I offered at the end of our service. Scroll down even further to watch my ‘After Sermon Preaching Tips‘ video where I’m keeping up my routine of sharing a few thoughts after I preach (right before I walk back into my home from my car!).

I am always hopeful that these offerings would bless and encourage you in your own journey with God and in your ministry of service to others. Feel free to reach out to me or leave a comment below, anytime. Blessings and peace!

Jeremiah 17:7-10 ESV

7 “But blessed is the one who trusts in the Lord,
whose confidence is in him.
8 They will be like a tree planted by the water
that sends out its roots by the stream.
It does not fear when heat comes;
its leaves are always green.
It has no worries in a year of drought
and never fails to bear fruit.”

9 The heart is deceitful above all things
and beyond cure.
Who can understand it?

10 “I the Lord search the heart
and examine the mind,
to reward each person according to their conduct,
according to what their deeds deserve.”

Prayer offered

Increase our faith God as we remain where you want us to be. Give us courage God, to go, if that is where you are leading us. We want to trust in you Lord. Help us to thrive where we are and remain connected to you, our true Vine. Purge anything in our lives and our heart and in our minds that take us away from you. We want to produce good fruit, abundant fruit, with you, in your good timing. We know we cannot do this on our own. We need you and you put others in our lives to help us to develop and grow. Search us, oh God, and do not let us go astray. Amen.

Benediction (modified from Hebrews 13:20-21 NLT)

Now may the God of peace—
who brought up from the dead our Lord Jesus,
the great Shepherd of the sheep,
   …
May he produce in you,
through the power of Jesus Christ,
every good thing that is pleasing to him.
All glory to him forever and ever! Amen.

Preaching Tips Background Video

In this video share, I give a brief summary of my sermon preached on 16 November 2025, talking a little bit about my comparison of when I first did these videos and how I was so focused on the commentaries to now. I also talk about choosing this text, “Thanks” and “Giving”, TLCW’s bulletin and giving envelope (for ideas), share a prayer for you (also as a YouTube Short), and go down memory lane a little bit about something I used to do. ☺️ Please share what has been working for you in the comments below!

I’d love to hear what resonates with you, in your particular roles of ministry (or however you’ve come to find this particular video)!
