It’s the End of Year Giving time. Maybe you are looking for worthy places to make a donation or maybe you are wanting to know about some great organizations out there doing great work in the world in which you’d like to begin investing in regularly for 2024-2025.
When I look over my year, there are several organizations that I have personally benefitted from or have invested in myself with my money, time, or talents. I want to introduce them to you and ask that you consider making a donation to one or several of these organizations. If you want to know more about any of these organizations- please reach out and contact me! Let’s talk about it!
I would love the opportunity to talk with you about what I know and have experienced with either of these organizations. The easiest way to schedule time with me is to make plans here on my scheduler: https://calendly.com/sejanashines/coffee Thank you!
In alphabetical order (by the way, no one asked me to do this!):
Baptist Joint Committee for Religious Liberty. https://bjconline.org/

- “Faith. Freedom. For All. The targeting of religious minorities. The rise of Christian nationalism. The politicization of houses of worship. BJC brings people together to tackle today’s serious threats to religious liberty.”
- I am a 2024 BJC Fellow and am recognizing the need more and more for Christians to work to protect religious freedom and recognize/push back again Christian nationalism. The work this team does to educate the public and advocate for and rally communities to get involved in their local (and federal) lawmaking processes has inspired me to do what I can to dig deeper to learn, help spread awareness, and act for the betterment of all, not just the privileged or the majority.

Fellowship Southwest. https://fellowshipsouthwest.org/

- “COMPASSION, JUSTICE, CONNECTION. Welcome to Fellowship Southwest, a nontraditional network of Christians where you can be yourself, your mission can be multiplied, and together we join God’s work for compassion and justice in the world.”
- This small but mighty team does excellent work in the areas of immigration, racial justice, hunger, and native justice. I worked closely with them when I was an intern starting in late May and lived on the border to learn about migrant care and the church.

Impact Temple Church. https://www.impacttemple.com/

- “REAL. MESSY. BELOVED. Impact Temple is a non-denominational church in East Temple that God is using to restore lives and create community in the margins of society. We seek to follow what Jesus taught and lived: love makes a real and eternal impact.
- I learned about this church because I wondered and asked where the people without homes in our small city in Central Texas went, when it was freezing cold. I kept hearing about a church called ‘Impact’ that opens its doors as a warming shelter for anyone that needs it. In early February, I got to know the pastor through a divine appointment through my first podcast recording at Feed My Sheep; later I came to the church and now I’m currently being vetted for a formal church ministry role.

There are so many other organizations and people who are doing great work in my community and in the world. I wanted to highlight a few of them here that I believe is worthy of your investments. Don’t hesitate to reach out to me and schedule a time for us to chat here, if it would be helpful to talk with me about the work that these organizations do or the work that I am doing in the world to shine a little light in the places and for people that could use it.
Thank you for reading!
Sincerely,
Sejana
