My local church (as well as others from what I’m seeing online) have wisely cancelled Sunday services early due to anticipation of Winter Storm Fern making its way across the U.S. But that doesn’t mean that we can’t meet together. (Scroll down to the very end to find other opportunities if you missed this one.)
So, in the spirit of one of my favorite passages in Scripture, let us gather together online to encourage one another from a spirit of faith in the Lord.
23 Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for he who promised is faithful. 24 And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, 25 not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching. – Hebrews 10:23-25 (NIV)
After giving up on trying to create the ‘right’ liturgy for this one-time online church experience, I concluded that it would be good to offer a few minutes to each person to share something with one another that is “church” for you, for the edification of our group.

So what might our time look like?
Well, if you are a person who has a song that has really been helping you in this season, could you share it with us? Or if you have had a particular Scripture that has been guiding you in this time, would you read that Scripture to us and let us sit with it with you too? Is there a prayer that you have in your heart? A lament about you, your family, the state of our nation/ the world you want to uplift for God and others to hear and respond in prayer? A visual? An experience? A devotion? I can go on and on, but as people of Christian faith, I believe that the Holy Spirit is living and active in and among us. Might we allow the Lord more room to be with us in our one-time gathering?
I’m open to seeing how this goes and to spend some quality time with you and whoever else comes to join in for our “church” online. Of course, if your church (or another offering) is available to you with more structure that suits you- participate in worship there.
Whatever your soul needs, go for that. You are invited to come as your full self. I’m going to try and do that as well. You might also bring your Bible, a notebook, and your open heart as well. AND, if what you need is just to RECEIVE, then just come and receive. I will come prepared to lead during this time if others aren’t in that space at this time. (Because of my ministry story, I am always sensitive to others who have gifts to share but not the opportunity or space to share them so I try to offer that to others and encourage that for others.)
Join us in Online Church – 25 Jan 2026 (this is not a recurring event)
Join in on Sunday 25 January, 2026. I’m going to be here at 11:00amCDT. If you’d like to join me and us (whoever that may be), I’d love to look to the Lord together with you. If we need a focus theme for our time together, Exodus 32:1-8 comes to mind as I just worked through this text with a few others last week. I’m happy to consider this text again, if needed, there’s so much in there that’s applicable to current life reality in the story of Moses. (We talked about this in my Scripture Lectio with Sejana group on Sundays at 8pmCDT online last week here.)
If you didn’t join in on Sunday, how did you spend your time? Anything you want to share with us that encouraged you from your time with God?
Sincerely,
Sejana
